Term 3- Final Term! Yeh. The website hadn't been updated for past gazzillion years due to webmaster's laptop being broken... Now it's fixed so it's all good haha.. First of all... TOUR has been a great success and people had tons of fun there. Highlights on tour are FOOD, gelatos, beach volleyball, strawberry lace races and just to make it complete, Warwick beating Portsmouth in everything including boat race (obviously in badminton :P). Our star members are Cassie (for being a mess on her birthday as usual) and Lads on tour! (just for being lads) Fun fact... our granny holds a record of 59 units drunk in four days (only statistic we have got because others are not sober enough to count)... Inner joke: MICROWAVE! (If you are gutted that you don't get it then don't miss the tour next year ) Exec Election / AGM is on 3rd of May (Week2 Thursday) and if you are interested in running for an exec next year or think someone should run for it, you need to send an e-mail to us with the nominees name and the position before 25th of April. (Week1 Wednesday)
There will still be numerous POPs and sessions will be running as per normal but Desso hall and Westwood Games hall will be out of action during some of the exam period so do make sure you check the e-mail and read the session times to avoid disappointment!
That's all! P.S. I will update with the captains' season review soon! The start time for each categories are:
Last weekend (18th-20th November) eight first team players from Warwick paticipated in BUCS Badminton individuals Games held in Nottingham. Over 600 players from more than 65 universities were there to play.
Most notable achievement was mixed pair Tang Xinquan & Nico Chan making the final 16 beating Glasgow's seeded pair in two sets 21-16, 21-14, eventually losing to 1st seed 19-21, 8-21. Other mixed pairs Wa Sonsin & Clare Freeman and Ben Li & Ying Yi Tee lost to the seeds in 2nd and 3rd round respectively.
All Men's singles players did well before being knocked out by seeds yet again. Ben Li lost to top seed Lim Kenn 13-21, 18-21 in the 5th round (last 32), Jamie Ellis also made 5th round and Xinquan Tang made 3rd round. Women's Singles games unfortunately didn't go so well partly due to injury.
Our Men's doubles pairs were Ben Li & Wa Sonsin and Xinquan Tang & Jamie Ellis and Woman's Doubles pairs were Nico Chan & Ying Yi Tee and Ziyu Zheng & Clare Freeman. All pairs unfortunately met seeds early on and lost before 4th round.
We will be hosting our first tournament of the year this Sunday! (6th of November) There will be free food and drinks and trophies for the winners! These are the start times for the different categories. Ladder is Open! Join the ladder if you are up for singles games. There will be various prizes for winners, the ones with the most matches etc at the end! All Engalnd- Must have seen enough e-mail about this. Just e-mail Josh before next Monday and pay the execs before Wednesday! It should be a exciting day out and a chance to see the best badminton players in the world!

Update!!
New Comittee Member has been elected! Haocheng Pan now joins us exec team and congratulation on getting the position woo hoo! His page has been added on the exec page!
Welcome back!
We hope everyone had a brilliant holiday. There are just a few things we want to let you know before you have AMAZING badminton fun times with us.
Firstly just want to tell you that our website is finally updated with an exception of the ladder page as it still needs sorting out. Both Exec and Team pages have been updated so have a look at the execs who will be running the club this year as well as the team captains who will be leading and picking the team members this year. Note that the upcoming page on the right hand side shows the list of events that are going to happen (or happened recently as I won't be updating as frequently as daily!) so if you are not sure about when those events are happening you could find out here.
As for the session time provided on this website, they are NOT necessarily the times for the session for every week. You will get weekly e-mails saying when and where the sessions are each week if you join the badminton club. Also if you have anything to say, (questions, problem... anything!) do not hesitate contact us via e-mail (su106@sunion.warwick.ac.uk) or facebook Facebook page. Lastly well done to all of you that got in! Congrats for getting here and I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.
Hope the riots haven't affected you too much and do look out for the updates.
Information you may want
How to join the club
Firstly you need to be a member of the warwick sports. It costs 49 pounds but it will give you access to pretty much every sporting facility in the university other than gym and the tennis centre as well as letting you join sports clubs for whole year! To find out how to join warwick sports, go to WarwickSports page.
To join the club click this to go to the badminton page. After logging in (I assume this part is not hard) joining should be relatively straightforward.
Alternatively, you could join Warwick Sports as well as our club during Sports Fair on the 4th of October! All the sports club will be there to recruit new members and you will be able to talk to us execs for the first time and we will be answering any queries you may have. So even if you do manage to join the club before the Sports Fair, do come and say hello!
Hope to see you there!
Learn about our bid for the Cecil Angel Trophy
The Cecil Angel Trophy is an annual award which recognises a club that performs most successfully within the spirit of Warwick Sport. We believe that our focus on sporting excellence and providing a nurturing and supportive environment for all badminton enthusiasts qualify us for the award, among many other considerations. Unfortunitely we lost out to skydiving but thought this application file shows what we are like as a club so if you want to learn about us before joining us have a look!
